EUROPEAN DIPLOMATIC ACADEMY courses are offered by high quality contributors (former presidents of states, prime-ministers, ministers of foreign affairs, academicians etc.) from European Union Member States. They are multinational in design and delivery, and encourage thinking from different perspectives in building a European and world approach to diplomacy.
Origins of the EUROPEAN DIPLOMATIC ACADEMY
The Initiative has its origins in the programs of diplomatic training developed in the late `90`s by EUROPEAN COUNCIL ON INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS prominent members for the new states and governments of Central and Eastern Europe. These helped to build not only professional knowledge and skills but a sense of community and European vocation amongst the officials who took part in the training.
The idea of a specifically diplomatic program for European Union was drawn from the growing coherence of European foreign policies and with the growing consciousness abroad of the EU as an international actor, there was notably less coherence in the training of diplomats from Europe and the world on European specific approach .
Today the EUROPEAN DIPLOMATIC ACADEMY is offering its expertise and official and professional networks to offer to all world specific training in diplomacy.
Guiding Rules of EUROPEAN DIPLOMATIC ACADEMY
The organizing principle of the EUROPEAN DIPLOMATIC ACADEMY training program is that each course will be offered by highly qualified experts, trainers and practitioners with an extensive knowledge of the world and diplomacy today. In this way the training automatically transcends purely theoretical perspectives, encouraging thinking from a European and world dimension perspective.
